WELCOME TO THE COMMANDER'S CORNER
Let me introduce myself. My name is Lieutenant Commander David Anscomb. I am the Commanding Officer for the U.S.S. Michigan SSGN727 Division of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. I have been associated with the Sea Cadet program for over 16 years. I joined the program in 2010 but was teaching personal protection to the cadets for a couple years prior. I have been the CO since 2019. During my time in the Sea Cadets I have had the privilege of helping to train cadets in the fields of Fire/Rescue, Field Ops (JSOC), Marksmanship, History and Heritage and for the last 4 years Master at Arms (Navy Police).
Originally from Takoma Park Maryland, I grew up in the D.C. area where American and World history was my passion. My father was in the Army in the 4th Armored Division in Fort Hood Texas and then in Engineering at Fort Belvoir Virginia so I grew up with a military background. The National Mall museums and the National Memorials in D.C. were my stomping grounds.
I have been in the Martial Arts for over 40 years, holding 2nd degree blackbelts in traditional Tae Kwon Do under the International and United States TKD Federations, 3rd degree in Tactical Tae Kwon Do and 5th degree in Concept Combatives.
I have also trained in Kuntaw, Kali, Miji Ki Bo, Bo Staff, Buno, Knife Fighting and Small Arms. I have had the privilege of also training with C.E.R.T. (Civilian Emergency Response Team) and F.E.M.A. (Federal Emergency Management Agency) for Search and Rescue and Mass Casualty and Triage, the U.S. Secret Service in Anti-Terrorism and both Manistee County SWAT and Missaukee County Emergency Management for Active Shooter Response.
